21 Weeks: North Carolina Wedding Weekend

21 WEEKS

21 WEEKS

As you can tell, I'm definitely getting bigger! This weekend Baby Riley traveled to North Carolina for a good friend's wedding on Wrightsville Beach. And in addition to attending the wedding, we were also able to visit 2 sets of friends in the Raleigh-Durham area. One of them being one of my best friend's, who just moved to Raleigh last year. This is me with my college friend Carly!

The weather all weekend was gorgeous. Unfortunately, we were in the car and traveling for a good portion of it, but we did jump in the pool quickly before the wedding on Saturday afternoon.

Here's a photo of Brian and I at the wedding (as you can see, this is one of the only dresses that still fits my growing belly). The wedding ceremony was held on the beach and it was a gorgeous evening.

Here's what's happening with Baby Riley this week:

  • Baby Riley is about 3/4 of a pound and as long as a carrot
  • He or she is probably kicking more and you may start to get a sense of his or her activity patterns
  • Baby's eyelids and eyebrows are present now

And what's happening with me:

Weight Gained: 11 pounds?

Favorite Moment: Feeling the baby kick more and more frequently. It's still mostly noticeable when I am sitting and during or after a meal.

Workouts: The usual combination of light cardio and a lot of strength training and core work.

Symptoms: I've had some occasional round ligament pains, which I notice when I am walking around for long period of time. It's uncomfortable but usually subsides relatively quickly.

Food Aversions/Cravings: I cheated and bought Trader Joe's new Pumpkin Bars mix this week. Let me just tell you, I was very pleasantly surprised. After adding a few extra chocolate chips to the mix, the bars came out deliciously gooey, almost like blondies but with a pumpkin spice flavor.

Sleep: I'm sleeping well, but at least once or twice a night I notice that one of my hands has gone numb and is tingly. I've heard that this is called pregnancy carpal-tunnel syndrome and can be caused by extra blood flow and swelling during pregnancy. Thankfully it's only happened while I have been asleep (maybe I am sleeping on my hand?), and it doesn't bother me too much.

Looking forward to: Yet another trip to the beach next week, this time I'll be visiting Hilton Head Island in South Carolina with my parents.
