You are so much fun to hang out with! I miss the newborn days when you were tiny and loved to cuddle and sleep in my arms all day, but I have to admit that I enjoy our days together even more now that you smile, laugh, and recognize my face and voice.
Your eyesight must be improving, because you love to look around and you will even let us hold you in our arms facing out instead of over the shoulder. My back is still killing me, but it's definitely an improvement.
The playmat is one of your favorite places to hang out, and I even caught you intentionally reaching for your little elephant toy the other day. But sadly tummy time is your least favorite activity of the day. Sometimes you start fussing immediately, and on other days you just lie there sticking your fist into your mouth. It takes a lot of coaxing from dad to get you to lift your head a few times. Thankfully, you still have good head and neck control so we aren't too worried about you.
You smile all the time now, and often greet me in the mornings with a grin. You have started to laugh a little bit, and it's the best thing ever. You are working on cooing and when you are in a good mood you enjoy talking to us and staring at us as we make faces at you. We look ridiculous, but you somehow find us to be amusing.
Bath time appears to be very relaxing and fun for you. You just sit there and give us a few smiles as we wash you. I think that you are still a little nervous and feel unsteady, but I have a feeling that will change soon.
Naps have all of a sudden gotten much easier! I have finally figured out how to tell when you are tired and if I catch your sleep cues in time you go to sleep relatively quickly. There is still no schedule, but that's fine by me. The Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit that we bought you is helping because you are now happy to sleep in your crib rather than in my arms, so I'm able to get a few more things done during the day (like thank you cards, a short workout video, dinner, etc). You are still a champ at sleeping during the night (please don't let that change!). Your dad gives you a bottle around 9:45-10pm and you are usually asleep by 10:30pm. You wake up anytime between 6-7am. You used to go right back to sleep for a few hours after eating, but it now takes a bit more coaxing to get you back to sleep.
I have joined a few mom's groups and both of us are meeting new friends. We went to a Rock 'n' Roll music class the other day and you loved it! You were extremely alert and happy, so I think that we'll sign up for a session that starts in June.
Your 3 month appointment at the doctor's went extremely well. You weighed 12 pounds, 15 ounces (up 2 pounds from your 2 month checkup) and you are 24 inches tall (at 2 months you were 22.5 inches tall). You had to get a Polio vaccine but you barely even cried. In fact, you were happy and smiling for your dad for most of the checkup. You still fit into your 0-3 month outfits but I imagine that you will be in 3-6 months clothes before long.
We feel so lucky to have you in your lives. You have your moments, but in general you are a happy and easy baby. And of course you are ridiculously cute and adorable.
We love you Arthur Ernest
